STOP the Old Forge Pumped Storage Project!
DID YOU KNOW...There is a plan to build a hydroelectric power plant on Bald
Mountain, spanning from Duryea to Ransom Township, directly above the Austin Heights neighborhood in Old Forge. The power plant is currently seeking federal approval and plans to use toxic mine water and a 200-megawatt natural gas generator.
WHY IT MATTERS...There are concerns about how the destructive land clearing,
excavation, and toxic leachate from the 650million gallon man-made pools could affect runoff into our neighborhoods, cause watershed disturbance, disrupt the ecosystem,
and more.
WHAT WE DON'T KNOW...Is this power plant going to supply energy to the 930-plus acre "AI-ready data center and energy storage campus" proposed by Mudiita Infra on a now deleted website?
WE WANT ANSWERS...Who does this project benefit? Will it affect our environment, air quality, and health? Are our first responders equipped to handle potential disasters? Will this bring a hyper scale data center?
