WHO WE ARE

 The Lower Lackawanna Valley Citizens Alliance for Responsible Land Use defends and preserves our region’s natural resources such as clean water and pure air, and our natural environments such as forests, mountains, and the ecosystems that thrive there, pursuant to our rights set forth by Article I, Section 27 of the Pennsylvania Constitution. We demand that our elected officials protect their constituents from harm inflicted by irresponsibly placed high-impact development including, but not limited to, power generation facilities, high-voltage infrastructure, and hyper-scale data centers. 

 

We ensure that elected officials enforce strict ordinances that prioritize keeping natural, delicate ecosystems intact. We insist that such ordinances require developers to conduct rigorous environmental review to ensure that their projects have minimal to no adverse impact on community health or the local economy. 

 

We oppose irresponsible siting of newly developed industries. We demand that developers prioritize prevention of disasters and catastrophic events such as flooding, wildfires, slope instability, and mine water disturbance. Furthermore, we defend the public’s personal, mental, and financial health from dangers such as exposure to noise pollution, unsafe air, property depreciation, increased utility costs, and the erosion of local, small businesses. 

 

We unite communities to reach our goal. We foster relationships and open communication with citizens of neighboring municipalities, encourage local council meeting attendance, participation, transparency and cooperation, and share verified, factual information with the public.
